Destinations Career Academy of New Mexico (Destinations)—a program of Gallup-McKinley County Schools—is a tuition-free, full-time online public school program for students in grades K–12. We’re dedicated to inspiring and empowering students through an education experience tailored to their needs.

Our Story

NMDCA is open to New Mexico residents in grades K–12. We offer a personalized approach to education, career and college prep for grades 7–12, middle school career explorations courses, high school pathways in high-demand career fields, and preparation for industry certification exams.

Get Ahead With Career and College Prep

Although the future can seem far off, students who begin preparing for careers in middle and high school can gain significant advantages. Students can explore career fields to discover and pursue their interests. Whether they already know where they’re headed or are just beginning to find their path, this program can help get them where they want to go. Career fields include Business Management & Administration; Health Science; and Information Technology (IT).

Student Success Coaching

NMDCA high school students can meet with Success Coaches to get advice on creating resumes, networking, interviewing, financial aid, college preparation, internships, and more! These virtual sessions are free to students at K12-powered schools. Our Success Coaches also host live, interactive webinars to better prepare students for their futures with expert insight and advice on college and career prep. These events are open to all high school students.

School Opening and Location

MU Prep held its inaugural first day of school on August 3, 2022, for Indiana residents only. For the 2023–2024 school year, MU Prep has expanded to offer our innovative, virtual full-time enrollment to students in grades K–10 in more than 30 states. We will also offer grades 11 and 12 in the coming years. MU Prep-Indiana offers a fully virtual program to students across the state and a hybrid learning option, including in-person learning at Marian University in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana. Conveniently located, the beautiful campus is an inspiring place to learn and reflect. MU Prep hopes to expand hybrid learning models to other locations in the future.

Our Story

Pecos Cyber Academy (PCA) is a free, public, online school for students who reside in New Mexico. The school was chartered in 2016 by Carlsbad School District as Pecos Connections Academy. PCA is currently referred to as a district charter school. Carlsbad School District is the authorizer of PCA. In short, the school district provides oversight on budget and student academic progress. Yet PCA does operate independently of its authorizer.

Classes are held virtually via a platform provided through our curriculum provider. PCA has a highly challenging curriculum with an excellent delivery system. All teachers, counselors, and other staff are credentialed under the regulations and licenses set forth by the NMPED and reside in New Mexico.
